Is wood working a favorite past time? Going to a concert with your friends, or even simply mowing your lawn is exposing yourself to a harmful amount of noise that should be monitored.

During activities where you will be exposed to a burst of loud noise or continuous noise, hearing protection should always be worn.

Do your hobbies includes power tools or loud speakers (or anything in between) you should take precautions to determine how loud the noise is, as well as how long you are being exposed.

You can use Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Code (2009 Section 218; Table 1 of Schedule 3) as a guideline to determine how long/often you can do your activity without permanently damaging your hearing, and use the proper hearing protection to keep yourself safe!
